A four-run eruption in the seventh inning carried the Mets to a 5-3 triumph over the Reds. The Mets trailed, 2-1, when John Stearns and Elliott Maddox led off the decisive frame with singles. Doug Flynn doubled to score Stearns, Maddox was out at the plate on a grounder by Alex Trevino, but Joel Youngblood doubled, driving in Flynn, and Frank Taveras followed with a single, scoring Trevino and Youngblood.
