Completing the three-game series sweep, the Cardinals posted a 6-4 victory over the Dodgers behind the pitching of Pete Vuckovich, who struck out 12 to match his major league career high. Garry Templeton and Tony Scott opened the Cardinal first inning with singles and scored on a single by Keith Hernandez and sacrifice fly by Ted Simmons.

Templeton and Scott, who walked, executed a double steal in the second and Templeton scored on a throwing error by Dodger catcher Joe Ferguson. The Cards added three more runs in the sixth on a double by Ken Reitz, error by Bill Russell, single by Templeton, sacrifice fly by Scott, single by Hernandez and double by Simmons.
