A two-run rally in the top of the eighth inning carried the Tigers to a 3-1 triumph over the Yankees. The score was 1-1 going into the eighth when Ron LeFlore walked, advanced to second on a sacrifice by Lou Whitaker, took third on an infield out and scored on a single by Steve Kemp.
