With Jack Clark and Bill Madlock providing batting punch to back the pitching of Vida Blue, the Giants thumped the Expos, 9-2. The Expos led, 2-1, going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but Madlock put the Giants ahead with a two-run single and Mike lvie added a run-producing single.
