Winning their first game in Detroit since 1977, the White Sox edged the Tigers, 5-4. A bases-loaded walk to Ralph Garr gave the Sox their first of three runs in the third inning. A second tally crossed the plate on a groundout and a third on a wild pitch. Bill Nahorodny drove in a run with a single in the fourth and Garr accounted for the game-deciding marker with a homer in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
