Tapping five pitchers for eight hits, the Tigers edged the White Sox, 10-8. The score was 6-6 going into the bottom of the fifth inning when a single by Lou Whitaker, walk to Rusty Staub and single by Steve Kemp produced the Tigers' tie-breaking tally.
