A single by Lance Parrish capped a two-run eighth inning that carried the Tigers to a 5-4 victory over the White Sox. The Tigers trailed, 4-3, going into the bottom of the eighth, when Rusty Staub opened that frame by being hit by a pitch and was replaced by pinch-runner mark Wagner.

Wagner advanced to second on a single by Steve Kemp and scored on a single by Jason Thompson. Mike Proly relieved Steve Trout on the mound for the Sox and immediately yielded the single to Parrish that plated Kemp with the winning run. [The Sporting News]
