Back-to-back doubles by Bucky Dent and Mickey Rivers keyed a three-run inning as the Yankees maintained their one-game lead in the East division by beating the Blue Jays, 4-1. The decisive rally began with a one out single by Graig Nettles. One out later, Roy White singled and Dent and Rivers followed with their two-baggers.

A single by Lou Piniella and triple by Nettles produced another marker in the sixth. Rich Gossage relieved with none out and two on in the ninth and closed the door on the Jays. [The Sporting News]
