A two-run single by Lamar Johnson in the third inning propelled the White Sox to a 6-2 victory over the A's. The score was 1-1 when Greg Pryor led off the Sox third with a single. Harry Chappas laid down a sacrifice bunt and was safe when losing pitcher John Henry Johnson threw wildly to first.

Mike Squires also sacrificed and Chet Lemon was given an intentional pass to load the bases for Lamar Johnson. Pitcher Johnson booted another sacrifice bunt attempt by Chappas in the seventh stanza to set the stage for two more Pale Hose runs. [The Sporting News]
