The Giants swept a pair from the Astros, winning the opener, 7-0, and capturing the nightcap, 6-4. In the first game, Vida Blue hurled his third shutout of the season and was backed by home runs by Darrell Evans, Hector Cruz and Jack Clark. Evans clouted a two-run smash in the third inning, Cruz cracked a two-run blast in the sixth and Clark had a solo swat in the eighth.

In the second game, the Giants led, 3-2, going into the bottom of seventh when they clinched the decision. Cruz reached first on an error and scored on a triple by Roger Metzger. Rob Andrews walked and Bill Madlock then doubled to give the Giants a 6-2 lead. [The Sporting News]
