After picking up a run in the fourth, the Orioles began the seventh with a double by Rick Dempsey. Rich Dauer drove in Dempsey with a single. Kiko Garcia also singled and Larry Harlow walked, loading the bases and setting the stage for a two-run double by Gary Roenicke.

Ken Singleton knocked in Harlow with a single, but Roenicke was thrown out trying to score. Eddie Murray resumed the attack with a single, driving in Singleton, and Lee May then climaxed the inning with a two-run homer. [The Sporting News]
