The Cardinals rallied to tie the score in the seventh on a walk to Keith Hernandez, triple by pinch-hitter Ken Reitz and sacrifice fly by Mike Tyson. Then, with two out in the eighth, George Hendrick singled and Simmons followed with his round-tripper.
