Extending their winning streak to eight games, the Orioles defeated the A's, 6-2. The Birds finished the season series against the A's with an 11-0 mark. It marked the second time in A.L. history that a team won all its games with another club. In 1970, Baltimore beat Kansas City 12 times without losing.

A four-run third inning ignited the Oriole victory. Rich Dauer led off with a single and after Mark Belanger walked, Larry Harlow's bunt was fielded by A's pitcher Mike Norris, who flipped the ball past third base and ran headfirst into Dauer, who was coming home. Norris suffered shoulder, neck, rib and groin injuries in the collision and was replaced by Pete Broberg. Dauer was allowed to score due to obstruction by Norris. After Ken Singleton drove in Belanger, Lee May capped the rally with a two-run single. [The Sporting News]
