Scoring all their runs in the fourth inning, the Tigers posted a 4-2 victory over the Twins. An error by first baseman Rod Carew on a grounder by Milt May started the fourth for the Tigers and Tim Corcoran followed with a single. One out later, Alan Trammell tied the game at 1-1 with a single.

Ron LeFlore, extending his hitting streak to 20 games, singled to put the Tigers ahead. Lou Whitaker struck out, but Rusty Staub then drilled a two-run double. [The Sporting News]
