The righthander was forced to leave the game in the seventh stanza when he was hit on the right thumb by a line drive off the bat of Darrell Porter and suffered a hairline fracture.

Lamar Johnson started the Pale Hose off with an RBI single in the first inning. The White Sox picked up two more runs in the fourth on a triple by Chet Lemon and double by Mike Colbern. Don Kessinger hit a two-run double in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
