Speier moved to third on a sacrifice by Ross Grimsley and scored on a single by Dave Cash through the drawn-in infield.

The Giants pounded out 14 hits in the nightcap. Jim Dwyer had a two-run homer in the first inning, Terry Whitfield stroked a two-run double in the third and the Giants put the game away with seven runs in the sixth.
