Three homers, including the first of Dan Schatzeder's major league career, helped power the Expos to an 8-5 victory over the Giants. Schatzeder, who also singled, drove in three runs before the rookie lefthander was lifted with one out in the seventh inning. The Expos had to call on three relievers, with the save going to Stan Bahnsen.

Darrell Evans produced the Giants' first three runs with a pair of homers, but with score tied, 3-3, the Expos broke away in the seventh. Andre Dawson and Ellis Valentine smashed back-to-back homers and another run followed in the same inning on singles by Tony Perez, Gary Carter and Chris Speier. [The Sporting News]
