Don Baylor, who had been in a homer slump, with only two since the All-Star break, stepped up to the plate in the ninth inning and hit for the circuit to carry the Angels to a 3-2 victory over the Orioles. Back-to-back homers by Eddie Murray and Doug DeCinces produced the Orioles' runs in the fourth.

The Angels caught up with two out in the seventh. Baylor doubled and scored when Joe Rudi singled. Rudi raced to third on a wild pickoff attempt by Scott McGregor and counted the tying run on a single by Carney Lansford. [The Sporting News]
