Mario Guerrero doubled in the fourth inning of the opener, stopped at third on a single by Dave Revering and scored the A's initial run as Taylor Duncan grounded into a double play. Singles by Jim Essian and Mike Edwards and a sacrifice fly by Joe Wallis added the other run in the seventh.
