. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Yankees and Indians exchanged drubbings, the Yanks winning the first game of a doubleheader, 11-0, and the Indians capturing the second game, 17-5. Reggie Jackson, loudly booed by the fans every time he came to the plate, responded with two RBI singles and a solo homer to lead the Bronx Bombers in the lidlifter.

The Tribe routed Catfish Hunter by sending 13 batters to the plate in the first inning of the second game. The erstwhile great righthander was knocked out without retiring a batter for the first time in his 445 major league starts. Hunter gave up a bases-loaded walk to Andre Thornton, two-run single to Bernie Carbo and RBI single by Tom Veryzer before reliever Bob Kammeyer was bounced for a bases-loaded triple by Duane Kuiper.
