Completing the three game series sweep, the Royals subdued the Red Sox, 7-3, as George Brett collected three hits, knocked in one run and scored twice, once on a steal of home. The Royals got five straight hits in their first turn at bat, including RBI doubles by Hal McRae and Amos Otis. After starter Jim Wright walked Clint Hurdle, Bob Stanley relieved and gave up two more runs on a fielder's choice by Tom Poquette and a single by Freddie Patek.

A double steal by Brett and Otis, with Brett swiping home, gave the Royals a run in the second stanza. The other two tallies came across on a sacrifice fly by Otis in the fifth and an RBI single by Brett in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
