Larry McWilliams and Gene Garber combined to shut out the Mets for the second time within a week as the Braves won, 3-0, snapping the Mets' winning streak at five games. The Braves scored in the first on singles by Gary Matthews, Cito Gaston and Bob Horner.

They added another in the fifth when McWilliams led off with his first major league hit, went to third when Met pitcher Jerry Koosman threw Jerry Royster's sacrifice bunt away for an error and scored on a sacrifice fly by Gaston.
