A safe squeeze bunt by Rob Andrews with one out in the 11th inning scored Larry Herndon and brought the Giants a 6-5 victory over the Pirates. Herndon singled and took third on a single by Jack Clark before Andrews pushed his bunt to the right of the pitcher's mound and was safe when Ed Whitson slipped trying to field the ball.
