Porter delivered his double after the Royals loaded the bases on singles by George Brett and Hal McRae and a pass to Amos Otis. Freddie Patek was hit by a pitch and Frank White walked ahead of LaCock's homer.

The Royals added their last three runs with the aid of two errors in the fifth, chasing Ed Figueroa, before they went hitless against Sparky Lyle and Bob Kammeyer in the last 4 2/3 innings. [The Sporting News]
