A four-run eighth inning enabled the Mariners to come from behind and capture a 5-4 victory over the Tigers. The Tigers led, 4-1, going into the bottom of the eighth when Tom Paciorek began the winning rally with a leadoff single. A bloop double by Bruce Bochte put runners at second and third and Leon Roberts followed with a home run to tie the score.

Jim Crawford relieved starter Dave Rozema on the mound for the Tigers and was tagged for a single by Dan Meyer. Bill Stein drew a base on balls and after Crawford retired the next batter he was replaced by Steve Foucault, who was greeted with the deciding single by Larry Milbourne. [The Sporting News]
