. . . where the 1970s live forever!

In a battle of birds, the Orioles beat the Blue Jays twice, 3-1 and 8-6. In the first game, Mike Flanagan tossed a five-hitter for his 12th victory. The first Oriole run came on a homer by Andres Mora in the fifth inning. A double by Ken Singleton and groundout by Lee May drove in the Orioles' other runs in the sixth.

The Jays came back from a 6-2 deficit in the second game to tie the contest with a four-run sixth inning, but the Orioles scored decisive runs in the bottom of seventh. Mora began the winning rally with a single and was replaced by pinch-runner Larry Harlow, who moved to third on a double by Doug DeCinces. Pat Kelly received an intentional walk to fill the sacks and Rick Dempsey then delivered a sacrifice fly to plate Harlow. Pinch-hitter Terry Crowley hit another sacrifice fly to produce an insurance tally. [The Sporting News]
