The Pirates won a doubleheader from the Cardinals, 5-4 and 11-8. The lidlifter was the completion of a game suspended after six innings on April 23. Cards had jumped off to 4-1 lead in opener but Pirates came back to tie contest in fourth frame. Winning run came across in sixth stanza on RBI triple by Dyer. Don Robinson held Redbirds to one hit over last three innings after play resumed.

Parker's two-run homer in sixth inning lifted Pirates to victory in nightcap. Redbirds had taken early 7-2 lead but Bucs came back and, trailing, 8-6, going into sixth, exploded for four tallies. Moreno had driven in run with single and was on base when Parker unloaded to give Pirates 9-8 lead.
