The misplay came in the fourth inning when Larry Bowa walked, moved to second on Mike Schmidt's groundout and scored when Templeton made a wild throw to first on a grounder by Greg Luzinski.

The Phillies' first run came in the second frame on a double by Luzinski and single by Richie Hebner. Keith Hernandez hit a homer in the eighth for the Cards' lone run off Steve Carlton. [The Sporting News]
