. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A six-run explosion in the third inning propelled the Red Sox to a 9-2 romp over the Yankees. Jerry Remy opened the third with a single and stole second. Jim Rice drew a walk and Carl Yastrzemski doubled to drive in Remy. Rice scored on a wild pitch by starter Jim Beattie. A double by Carlton Fisk plated Yastrzemski. Fisk moved to third on a wild pitch by reliever Dick Tidrow and scored on a sacrifice fly by Fred Lynn.

The Red Sox went on to add two more markers before the frame ended when Butch Hobson homered with Dwight Evans aboard. Catfish Hunter made his first appearance for the Yankees since May 9 and was tagged for back-to-back homers by Lynn and George Scott. [The Sporting News]
