Stone had a no-hitter for 5 2/3 innings before Bobby Thompson doubled and scored the Rangers' only run on a single by Mike Hargrove.

The White Sox scored in the second on a bases-empty home run by Ron Blomberg. Their second run came in the fourth when Chet Lemon singled, stole second, advanced to third on an outfield fly and scored on a single by Bill Nahorodny.
