Mike Flanagan pitched a three-hitter and received homer support from Eddie Murray and Rick Dempsey as the Orioles ran their winning streak to eight games with a 5-3 victory over the A's. Murray hit his homer after a single by Billy Smith in the fourth. Dempsey's round-tripper in the fifth was followed by another run when Kiko Garcia singled, stole second and scored on a single by Smith.

A pair of walks and a pinch-double by Gary Alexander produced two runs for the A's in the seventh, but the Orioles assured their victory with a run in the eighth on a walk and singles by Doug DeCinces and Murray before the A's fell short with a tally in their half of the inning.
