Rookie third baseman Larry Wolfe hit the first two homers of his major league career, plus a single, and drove in five runs as the Twins defeated the Tigers, 9-2. Wolfe singled home the Twins' initial run in the second inning and scored himself on a double by Roy Smalley. Wolfe then broke a 2-2 tie with a homer in the fourth and added his other round-tripper with a man on base in the eighth.

Dave Goltz, starting for only the second time since April 21 after suffering a cracked rib and a blister on his pitching hand, hurled the route and limited the Tigers to five hits. [The Sporting News]
