. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Jesse Jefferson gave up only four hits and retired 14 of the last 15 batters while pitching the Blue Jays to a 3-1 victory over the Rangers. Jefferson yielded the Rangers' run in the fourth inning on a pass to Bobby Bonds, single by Mike Hargrove and sacrifice fly by Bump Wills, but the Jays struck back immediately against Jon Matlack in their half.

Rick Bosetti doubled and Bob Bailor, Roy Howell and Otto Velez followed with singles to produce two runs. Howell then scored the third run on a passed ball by Jim Sundberg. Dave McKay doubled in the seventh to extend his batting streak to 16 games, breaking the previous club record of 15 games hitting safely by Howell last season. [The Sporting News]
