The rampaging Red Sox rode to their eighth straight victory, shutting out the Blue Jays, 4-0, behind the pitching of Dennis Eckersley. A leadoff homer by Rick Burleson in the first inning got the Red Sox rolling.

Dwight Evans added a solo round-tripper in the fourth, his sixth circuit clout in seven games. A sacrifice fly by Burleson and single by Jerry Remy produced the final two tallies in the sixth. The Red Sox lifted their Fenway Park record to 22-3. [The Sporting News]
