. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A three-run homer by Carl Yastrzemski enabled the Red Sox to come from behind and defeat the Blue Jays, 5-4. With the Sox trailing, 3-2, Rick Burleson singled with one out in the eighth. Jerry Remy forced Burleson at second but Jim Rice kept the rally alive with a single.

Yastrzemski then belted a 2-2 pitch over the right field fence. The Jays had assumed the lead on two round-trippers by John Mayberry, a two-run blast in the first frame and solo shot in the sixth. Rookie righthander Allen Ripley received credit for his first major league victory, pitching seven innings. [The Sporting News]
