Lance Parrish blasted a home run with two out and one on base in the bottom of the 16th inning to lift the Tigers over the Mariners, 4-2. Jason Thompson led off the 16th with a single off Shane Rawley, who struck out the next two batters before serving a gopher ball to Parrish.

The Tigers trailed, 2-1, going into the ninth but tied the game when Thompson doubled with one out, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Steve Kemp's sacrifice fly.
