Dave Kingman blasted three home runs, plus a single, and drove in eight runs as the Cubs outlasted the Dodgers, 10-7, in 15 innings. His first homer came in the sixth and was good for two runs. The second round-tripper, also a two-run blow, tied the score for the Cubs in the ninth after the Dodgers had taken a 7-5 lead on a two-run single by Reggie Smith. The third circuit clout was preceded by one-out walks to Mick Kelleher and Steve Ontiveros and a forceout.

The game-winning shot came off Rick Rhoden, who was making his first relief appearance of the season. Kingman also hit three homers in a game at Dodger Stadium on June 4, 1976, when he was with the Mets. [The Sporting News]
