Rallying from a 4-0 deficit, the Cardinals came back to edge the Dodgers, 6-5, as Mark Littell pitched spectacularly in relief to gain his first N. L. victory. The righthander blanked the Dodgers on two hits over the last six innings while striking out eight.

The Cards' winning run came in the sixth when Tony Scott and Mike Tyson singled and Lou Brock stroked a sacrifice fly to plate Scott. The Redbirds tied the game in the fifth on a two-run homer by Jerry Morales. [The Sporting News]
