. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Making his best showing of the season, Catfish Hunter pitched one-hit ball for six innings as the Yankees picked up a 3-1 verdict over the Twins. Graig Nettles gave the Yanks a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a homer. Two runs followed in the fourth on a homer by Reggie Jackson and consecutive doubles by Nettles and Jim Spencer.

Hunter retired the last 10 batters he faced. Sparky Lyle took over in the seventh. The Twins' run followed a 31-minute rain delay and came when Butch Wynegar tripled and scored on Jose Morales' pinch-hit single. [The Sporting News]
