Designated hitter Steve Braun, who entered the game batting only .160, drove in four runs with a homer and two singles in support of Rick Honeycutt, who pitched the Mariners to a 9-1 victory over the Blue Jays. Honeycutt gave up only four hits and retired the last 19 batters in succession.

The Blue Jays' lone run scored in the first inning on a baseball rarity -- a four-base error. Mariner right fielder Leon Roberts failed to hang onto a low drive by Rick Bosetti and, as the ball bounced away into the right field corner, the speedy Bosetti raced around the bases. [The Sporting News]
