Reggie Smith had a triple, double and two singles for the Dodgers and Rick Monday hit his ninth homer as well as a double. The Dodgers put the game out of reach in the ninth when Bill Russell tripled and Smith doubled. Smith moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Steve Garvey's sacrifice fly.
