The A's got only two hits off lefty Tom Underwood but that was all they needed to gain a 2-1 triumph over the Blue Jays. Bill North doubled to lead off the fourth inning, went to third on a sacrifice and scored while Mitchell Page bounced into a double play. Gary Alexander then hit a home run, his fourth game-winning circuit clout of the season.

The Blue Jays got their run in the fifth on a walk to Luis Gomez and triple by Rick Bosetti. North, playing out his option, was reinstated to the lineup by A's owner Charlie O. Finley after being kept on the bench since the start of the season. [The Sporting News]
