. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Although held to only four hits, the Mariners took advantage of Nolan Ryan's wildness to achieve a 6-1 triumph over the Angels. The fireballing righthander gave up six walks and uncorked three wild pitches. His first wild pitch followed a pair of walks and an error and gave the Mariners their first run of the game. Walks to Bruce Bochte and Ruppert Jones preceded RBI singles by Bill Stein and Dan Meyer in the fourth. Stein scored as the lead runner in a double steal.

Two walks, two wild pitches and Bochte's sacrifice fly produced the final Mariner tally in the seventh. Paul Mitchell, pitching for the Mariners, did not issue a pass. The Angels' run came in the seventh on Rance Mulliniks' triple and an infield out. [The Sporting News]
