Two-run homers by Carl Yastrzemski and Fred Lynn in the sixth inning carried the Red Sox to a 6-2 victory over the Tigers. Ted Cox hit his first major league homer for the Red Sox to tie the score at 1-1 before Jim Rice singled in the sixth and Yastrzemski followed with his round-tripper. Carlton Fisk then singled and Lynn iced the verdict with his homer. [The Sporting News]
