Two-run homers by Thurman Munson, Dave Kingman, Reggie Jackson and Graig Nettles powered the Yankees over the Tigers, 9-4. Jackson also had a solo blast in the eighth inning. His first came after Munson singled in the the fifth. Nettles drilled his 35th following a walk to Willie Randolph in the sixth. Kingman's came in the third after a single by Lou Piniella.
