The Rangers turned back the Angels, 3-2, and spoiled Nolan Ryan's bid to become the American League's first 20-game winner. A two-run single by Mike Hargrove gave the Rangers a 2-0 lead in the fifth and they stretched it to 3-0 when Willie Horton and Dave May unloaded back-to-back doubles.
