Jeff Burroughs batted in four runs with a homer and sacrifice fly, in addition to hitting a pair of doubles, and paced the Braves to an 8-6 victory over the Padres. The Braves fell behind, 3-1, before taking the lead in the fifth inning when a walk to Pat Rockett and singles by Darrel Chaney and Barry Bonnell produced one run before Burroughs hit a three-run homer. The Braves then decided the outcome with two more runs in the sixth on another pass to Rockett, a single by Bonnell, double by Rowland Office and Burroughs' sacrifice fly. [The Sporting News]
