The Yankees, who were trailing, 5-2, after six innings, came from behind to defeat the Rangers, 6-5. A three-run homer by Toby Harrah, solo swat by Mike Hargrove and another run on a single by Willie Horton and triple by Harrah built up the Rangers' lead over the Yankees, who had a homer by Lou Piniella.

An error by Bump Wills proved damaging to the Rangers, enabling the Yankees to score two unearned runs in the seventh. Then in the eighth, Willie Randolph doubled with one out. After Bucky Dent flied out, Mickey Rivers singled Randolph home with the tying run and Graig Nettles followed with a triple to drive in the winning marker. [The Sporting News]
