Cubbage also tripled and scored another run. Carew, whose hits included three doubles, crossed the plate four times and drove in one run. Dave Goltz, who gained his 14th victory, lost his bid for a shutout when the Indians scored in the eighth inning on a single by Fred Kendall and double by Duane Kuiper. [The Sporting News]
