The Orioles moved back into first place in the A. L. East with a 3-2 and 4-3 sweep of the Brewers. Mike Flanagan hurled his sixth straight complete-game victory in the first game, thanks to an eighth-inning RBI double by Eddie Murray which produced the winning run. Two walks and Steve Brye's single put the Brewers ahead, 2-0, in the top of the third. Loser Moose Haas' throwing error, a walk, single by Billy Smith and double by Pat Kelly tied the score in the home half.

Murray hit a solo homer in the second game, but it was an eighth-inning sacrifice fly by Elliott Maddox which produced the winning run after Milwaukee had rallied with three runs to tie the score in the top of the frame. [The Sporting News]
